No more fighting to get those stuck or frozen misalignments out of your shocks, just so you can hold the shock secure in the vice for service. The AGM Shock Cap Jaws are a simple, inexpensive way to hold your shocks tight in the vice, without scratching or damaging the shock. And the best part is they have a groove cut in them, to allow you to keep the misalignments installed during service. FAQ:
WHAT ARE THE SHOCK CAP JAWS AND WHY DO I NEED THEM?
When servicing your shocks, the first steps are to remove the nitrogen charge and turn the shock upside down to remove the bottom cap, snap ring and gland to gain access to the inside of the shock. But there are no good ways to hold your shock while you perform these steps. So we created the The Shock Cap Jaw set. It is a soft aluminum block that has three locations to mount the top of your shock in. This way you can be sure your shock is held tight during service, without damaging the anodized surface of your pride and joy. And now that you do not have to worry about the shock failing over, both hands are free to knock out that service work.
DO I NEED TO REMOVE MY MISALIGNMENT SPACERS TO USE THE SHOCK CAP JAWS?
No, the Shock Cap Jaws are machined with 3 different reliefs built into the faces of them. These reliefs allow you to service your shock without having to remove your misalignment spacers. It becomes an even larger benefit for many newer OE application shocks that have built in misalignment spacers that cannot be removed.
WILL THE SHOCK CAP JAWS SCRATCH MY SHOCKS?
No. The soft aluminum material is made to cradle shocks without damaging the surface. And the radius on the jaw set matches most shocks, so there should be no sharp points contacting your shocks either. Just be sure to keep the Shock Cap Jaw set free of debris and scratches and it will provide strong clamping force without damaging your shocks for years.
